How to sell NFT on Shopify?

Just a year ago, Cryptocurrencies were inherently associated with criminal activities and international frauds, But as the world is getting more familiar with this technology and its use case, there is a boom in the decentralization space with various applications of blockchains emerging successfully.

NFTs have created a buzz you cannot ignore as the revenue soared over 24 billion in just one year. People just see money in this equation however, I see the opportunity to make money, and here am I to educate you guys on how to sell NFT on Shopify and make a lot of money.

The term NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token which is anything digital like a picture, message, code, video, audio, and many more attached with a data tag (called metadata) which makes the digital item unique in the blockchain’s ecosystem.

I won’t take any more time to explain NFTs in detail but one thing you should know is that NFTs are life-changing and Shopify is one of the few platforms that allow its traditional users to buy and sell NFTs on Shopify.

So, let’s understand how to sell NFT on Shopify!

Can you sell NFT on Shopify?

In mid-June 2021, Shopify made a bold move and enabled NFT marketplaces from third-party applications and plug-ins for its users to enable NFT trading, without any prior knowledge about cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

And,

Yes, Shopify allows its users to sell any digital entity as an NFT. It allows for first-party, primary sales of NFTs using Shopify Payments through a Shopify storefront or the Storefront API.

To provide the best digital shopping experience, Shopify entered the NFT marketplace as a payment intimidator and allowed its users to buy and sell Non-Fungible digital tokens through their platform via existing payment options.

So, If you are curious to know more and want to start selling NFTs on Shopify, don’t stop reading and read till the end to know everything on how to sell NFT on Shopify.

Which blockchains are available in Shopify?

Shopify is not a dedicated NFT marketplace and therefore there are only limited blockchains available on which you can sell your NFTs on Shopify.

Earlier, back in 2021, Shopify only allowed third-party sellers to sell via Ethereum and flow blockchain, but as the NFT market is increasing at an exponential rate, Shopify has also expanded its options.

As of now, Shopify offers the following blockchains:

  • Ethereum (Ether)
  • Polygon
  • Flow
  • Videocoin
  • Solana (SOL)

Which blockchain should I choose to sell my NFT?

Frankly speaking, the best blockchain is undoubtedly Ethereum as it has all the big players and complete market dominance with 70% NFT trading volume on Ethereum blockchain alone.

However, there are some problems with Ethereum and one of the major ones is the High gas fee which is the transaction fee paid to developers to validate transactions on the blockchain.

Additionally, it is mostly popular because it was the first blockchain to enable NFT trading, and other than that it has nothing fresh to offer for a very long time.

Solana and Polygon stand second in the line.

Why is Solana better than Ethereum and Polygon blockchain?

I am not here to explain the technical abilities and inabilities of different blockchains.

Instead, I will explain why you should choose Solana especially if you are a newcomer to NFTs, and how you can maximize your sales and profits in the Solana blockchain through special help from our team (only for early adopters, read till the end to know more).

First of all, Solana has super low gas fees ranging from $5-$30, However, Ethereum charges gas fees in the range of $50-$1000. And yes, you read it right, a thousand dollars as transaction fees when the network is busy.

Secondly, Polygon is a blockchain made on Ethereum which limits its potential and is highly affected by network congestion in the main Ethereum network, However, Solana is an independent blockchain that provides high transaction speed at a very low price and it’s environmentally friendlier than Ethereum (Ethereum require computers which require high energy to mine Ethereum).

That’s enough knowledge balloons on different blockchains. Now, let’s come to the main point of how to sell NFT on Shopify!

How to sell NFT on Shopify?

I will try to guide you through every step to successfully list your NFT collection on Shopify.

Take a few breaths, plug in your earphones and let’s start the ride to the future!

Step 1: Create an account on Shopify

If you already have a registered Shopify account, you can skip this part, but if not, it’ll take only a few minutes to create one. Follow these 4 steps to start selling on Shopify:

  • Visit Shopify.com.
  • Review the pricing plans and decide which one to choose.
  • Complete the detail page form and proceed to pay.
  • Click Create my account and Tada!!!.

You have successfully made the first baby step!

Step 2: Develop a website

Shopify allows different traders, businesses, and buyers to trade in Shopify’s marketplace but that does not mean it will sell your NFT for you.

You will require a website to host your products and sell them via Shopify. You can create a basic website yourself and get going or you can hire us to build whatever you wish, at the most affordable rate in the business. (Of Course in relevance to quality). Click here to contact us.

Step 3: Set up payment options and keep your NFT collection ready

Once you have linked your website with Shopify, you need to set up where and how you wish to receive payments from your sales on Shopify. After this, you should keep your NFT collection ready to take the market by a boom!

For Step 2 and Step 3, Shopify will ask your details themselves and will direct you accordingly on how to get going!

Step 4: Download Dropmint NFT from the Shopify app store

Our app is one of the most amazing things you would see on the internet today. But, first, let’s be clear this application is only for people who wish to launch NFTs on the Solana blockchain.

We built this application to help people enter the NFT world and not make them pay hundreds of dollars in just gas fees. Imagine, you listed your NFT on Ethereum blockchain for 150$ and you have to pay 100$ (Average fee if network congestion is low to medium) in gas fees, I’ll be screwed if I were you.

So, if you wish to make big bags and spend less on minting and gas fees, You must launch your NFTs on Solana, not adding the fact that you are making a sustainable move for our environment too! 🙂

Dropmint NFT is the first marketplace for Solana NFTs on Shopify.

You can add the app to Shopify from this link and start your NFT journey for free.

We wanted to make a very simple to use and user-friendly application, so you will only see 5 tabs in our app:

Become rich with NFTs with us in 20 minutes!

Let’s walk through our 5 step application which can help you become big in the NFT world!

  • Start Here:

On this page, you can access our videos about the app and some welcome messages from our team. Feel free to watch them if anything textual goes over your head.

  • Create NFT:

This tutorial will help you go step by step on how to create NFT on Solana using our Dropmint NFT application.

Below is the first screen you will see when you click on the Create NFT button. You can choose devnet to launch dummy NFT sets and test various parameters like how the product will be displayed in Shopify or how our app works in real-time to enhance your NFT selling experience.

For those who don’t know, Devnet refers to the developer network and developers test their code, applications, UI, etc on this network before releasing the data on the mainnet. And obviously, Mainnet refers to the main network, or in your case the main website where buyers can explore your NFTs.

Step 1:

Click on the add file to upload your NFT or NFTs on Shopify. You can upload a maximum of 20MB picture, video, gif, code, music, or anything which can become a digital collectible here.

Step 2:

Now, enter a suitable title for your NFT or NFT collection. Remember this is the exact title that buyers will see on Shopify. You can also add a description to explain more about your vision or storyline of your NFTs.

Buyers like to learn more about the artist or the story behind the NFT if there is any or you can of course take the lazy way and leave it blank.

Step 3:

Here, you have to enter the market supply of your NFT. You can create 1/1 which are unique NFTs or enter any number of copies to be sold of the same NFT.

For example, I wrote 10 because I want only 10 people to own my NFT.

Step 4:

This is an optional category and you can leave it blank but this is a very important criterion for buyers to evaluate your NFT as a common, rare or legendary sort of thing.

Imagine you have an NFT collection with 10 different backgrounds and the white background one is rarer than the other. So, your collectors will pay more on the secondary market to buy an NFT with white background.

Similarly, you can add multiple traits and mention their rarity in the description or on your website to create competition among buyers.

Step 5:

In this step, you will enter the listing price of your NFT and you can even leave it blank in case you wish to drop free NFTs for your buyers as a gift.

We charge 7% of your total sale as our fees or at least 10$ in case the value of your NFT is less than $142 for each time you mint NFT on Solana.

We use this amount to mint your NFT on the Solana blockchain.

Click on Save in the top right corner and you have almost listed your NFT on Shopify.

You can list and edit for free of cost on Devnet and all the charges apply only for changes in mainnet.

P.s. Any change on devnet will not affect your product page as it is only a dummy network. Changes in the mainnet are permanent and visible to the buyers.

  • NFT Status:

This tab gives you real-time information about your NFTs which are already listed or are under review in one place. Devnet will appear in your NFT title to let you know that you are working on Devnet.

For example, I created and uploaded our logo as an NFT and this is how I will know the status of my NFT.

You can view the timeline, edit or delete your NFT using the option at the bottom right. Below is the sample of the timeline which provides time stamps and details about the listing of NFT.

After creating your NFT you have to click on Request Approval to launch your NFT on the blockchain. We will take less than 72 hours to review and approve your NFT.

We take this time to secure the network from viruses and unwanted disturbance from malicious NFTs.

Once you click on Request Approval we will take you to the billing page where you can choose how you wish to pay us and read the Subscription details. The more NFTs you mint, the more you will be charged but that also means more you can earn.

After clicking on approve you can list your item on the store and you have successfully launched your NFT on Shopify. Once approved your product will be directly listed.

You can click on the view product to see how your product will look in the Shopify store.

P.s. Devnet is a dummy network, don’t expect changes on Devnet to reflect on Mainnet.

  • Settings:

This panel will help you implement additional settings you can apply to your NFT collection and more.

We wanted to create an application where you can customize your NFT in whatever way want and therefore we have the following 4 features to enhance your experience in the NFT space:

After uploading an NFT, when you’ll open settings, you will have the option to give a name to your NFT collection and even assign an NFT symbol to it.

You can even add royalties in your NFTs which means you’ll get some percentage of sales of your NFT every time it gets sold on the secondary market.

By default, we take a 0.5% royalty as our fees.

This is the second feature which is a very basic one that you can either work on Maainnet or Devnet.

You can even let your buyers see the contract address of the NFT they brought which contains metadata for your NFT and allows future buyers to validate authenticity.

Our team has made this option to allow sellers to take their respective time to fulfill orders as some people are at work most of the time and the weekend is the only time they can work on NFT.

So, our users have 4 different time slots to fulfill orders and this is basically like the delivery time your buyers will see on the product page.

  • Need Help:

In case you face any difficulty while using our app you can use this tab to contact us and we will get back to you in less than 24 hrs.

We have set up 2 channels to connect with our service agents:
